An internal disk drive may be a disk drive that resides inside the pc. Most computers accompany one internal disk drive, which incorporates the OS and pre-installed applications. While laptop computers only have room for one internal disk drive, some desktop computers have multiple disk drive bays, which allows for multiple internal hard drives.

This article brings to your tables a review of 8TB, 10TB, 12TB & 16TB Internal Hard Drives (HDD) of 2021

REVIEW OF 8TB, 10TB, 12TB & 16TB INTERNAL HARD DRIVES (HDD) 2021

This 8TB hard drive is perfect for designers, musicians, photographers, and video editors using multiple applications at once, these solutions offer uninterrupted performance, optimized read/write caching technology, and a variety of capacities and form factors to choose from. The result is a seamless experience backed by a two-year limited warranty and 20 years of hard drive innovation.

Other users’ reviews;

  • Excellent drive! Can’t even hear it over my near-silent case and CPU fans. This will almost certainly be the last spinning disk drive I buy in my life, and I am happy to be finishing up in style.
  • Got this 2TB exclusively to store next-gen games for my PC, had zero issues with installing and formatting for use within W10. Disk management immediately prompted me to format; it gives you about 1.81 TB for storage. Seagate has always been reliable for me; I have a Seagate 1TB pulled from my old 2011 XPS that I have used in two of my previous gaming PC setups for game storage, and is still used today in my current rig. It’s been working for a little over 9 years without an issue and I imagine this new drive will last me a long time as well.
  • This 2TB Seagate BarraCuda is replacing a 7-year-old 1TB Seagate BarraCuda with Win7 in an old Dell Inspiron. There was nothing wrong with my old one. I always run error checks on the disk & it was healthy. But, 7 to 10 years is the average life expectancy on an HDD. I have my files backed up on an external Seagate Drive just in case it ever failed. But, I do NOT want Win10 & I did NOT want to lose my Win7. I also needed more space. I’m a music fanatic & I have a lot of WAV files. They eat up most of my HD. So I bought this new one & cloned it from my old one.

FEATURES

  • Dynamic versatility
  • Superior capacity
  • Proven durability
  • Multi-tier caching technology

Easily monitor the health of hard drives using the integrated IronWolf Health Management system and Enjoy long-term reliability with 1M hours MTBF.

Other users’ reviews;

  • Very quiet when just spinning (I can barely hear it even though there are SIX of these spinning all the time) except when a heavy backup or sync activity is happening. These are pricey for the capacity but if you want your data to be protected (I’m a photographer & my raw images need to be protected so I’ve set up a RAID6 on my Synology NAS DS1621+. I would like to see more speed over the network but it’s not these drives that are capable of 6GB/s. Installation in my NAS required no screws or other hardware (more a function of the NAS drive tray design but that’s important, too) so it took about 6 minutes to install 6 drives. It took more time to get the drives out of the boxes and anti-stat bags
  • The Seagate Ironwolf is a network storage-specific hard drive. It is a very rugged and robust hard drive that was designed for high duty cycles. The build quality is better than the hard drives used for desktop computers. A NAS (network-attached storage) punishes the hard drive. The drives in a NAS are constantly spinning as multiple users are accessing their data. A desktop hard drive will fit the NAS but it will not last long under heavy use. If you have a NAS, buy the right hard drive

FEATURES

  • Built for NAS
  • Drive health monitoring
  • Nas-optimized performance
  • Data protection

Purpose-built for NAS enclosures, IronWolf delivers less wear and tear, little to no noise/vibration, no lags or downtime, increased file-sharing performance, and much more

Other users’ reviews;

  • Awesome NAS hard drive. I initially bought a Western Digital hard drive because I heard nothing but good things about that brand. I went through three that didn’t work with my Buffalo Link station. After I returned to the third one decided to try my luck with a different brand.
  • So far I’m really happy with these drives. They run cool and quiet in my NAS. With slightly higher RPM, they are a little snappier. The Ironwolf firmware is something my NAS does utilize so I’m excited that I’ll be able to get more in-depth health statistics and earlier warning on drive failure.
  • I run several file servers attached to my home ethernet network and use RAID 1 NAS file servers that automatically backup the files in case of failure. NAS or Network Attached Servers are used in the home to store movies, pictures, videos, and personal records. I use RAID 1 devices which have two hard disks that are synced automatically. This way if one fails, the NAS drive switches over to the other drive so you don’t lose any information. Then you just replace the bad drive and the unit rebuilds it automatically. As a NAS drive runs 24×7, you need hard disks that will run for years without problems. The Iron Wolf series are designed for longevity and provide solid performance

FEATURES

  • Built for NAS
  • Drive health monitoring

Other users’ reviews;

  • These are just hard drives, but I like the Reds because I know that I can just plug them in and not worry about them – reliable and very low noise/vibration. They cost more than alternatives, but they are workhorses and my data is important. In that regard, they are a bargain.
  • The Western Digital Red line of hard drives is intended for use in a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. These are file servers, a place to store files to be sharable on a network. Many NAS units have multiple drive bays that can be configured in a RAID array. for those that don’t know what this means, the drives are combined in any one of several special configurations to create a single volume (like drive C:).

First in its class of drives to include rave sensors in other  to maintain high performance in multi-drive NAS enclosures, range of capacities up to 14TB. More capacity options mean more choices that will fit within the budget.

Other users’ reviews;

  • This is the sweet spot for storage capacity before you get into the louder 7200 RPM drives. This drive is packing all the features of the larger drives including vibration sensors in a quieter 5900 RPM package. The smaller 3TB is lacking vibration sensors.
  • I am a Western Digital disk drive guy but after reading some reviews I decided to give these drives ago. I was not disappointed, they are slower speed but still slightly faster than the Western Digital Reds 5400 RPMs vs 5900 RPMs. As for noise levels, I have 3 of them behind my monitor and I sometimes forget they are there.
  • Very quiet (can’t hear them when in front of the NAS), security grade for high usage, and building a SAN 4 of them are the right price for 10TB of format storage. Highly recommend.

FEATURES

  • 12 TB capacity
  • halogen-free
  • rotational vibration sensor
  • Spindle Speed (rpm): 7200
  • Buffer: 256 MB

Other users’ reviews;

  • I believe that if you set these computer things correctly at the first time, and lasted for over three months, then this product is good enough to have five stars because it will just die after a month of use if that’s defective and doesn’t need more time than a month or two for it to die, as well as other computer hardware! 3 months gone, stayed into my NAS running nonstop, so I believe it’s good.
  • A NAS is a great way to add storage for the whole network where everything can be reached from any system connected. It is not as simple as a USB mass storage device like a thumb drive, of course, but it addresses a completely different issue. So far, this drive has proven to be a good one, though its reliability remains to be demonstrated over the long haul.

FEATURES

  • High Reliability
  • High performance
  • Integrated RV sensors

  • I think these are some of the best Hard Drives I have used in the area of SATA and eSATA. They work exactly as advertised and they are fast enough for the application that I am using and easy to install and setup. The fact that they have 5 years warranty is worth getting them. I register them all at the WD website and they all have now 5 years warranty. Perfect for setting up as RAID 0, 1, 5, and/or 10 without any problem. Highly recommend them.
  • I’ve purchased WD drives before and am still using them in a computer and NAS. So far, I’ve not had a problem with any of them. They work as advertised. I trust WD drives. Their prices are comparable to others of the same quality.

CONCLUSION

The internal disk drive may be a key component of a computer since it stores the user’s software and private files. While the remainder of a computer’s components is often easily replaced, if a tough drive fails, the info might not be ready to be recovered. Therefore, it knows regularly to copy the info stored on an indoor disk drive using an external disk drive or a web backup service.
